Gaffel- Origin of the name
The year was 1396 and the Middle ages were just beginning. Michael Angela, Gutenberg, bossiness was growing but so were threats to the way brewers made their beer. A group of master brewers got together to form a guild to govern their practices, both scientific and business. This beer guild was called, Gaffel.
When, years later, Cologne formed a constitution, the 22 original Gaffs had their say. The city came to reflect the values of the Gaffel- integrity, tolerance, and honesty.

Gaffel K¨elsch
The classic Gaffel K¨elsch is a particularly fresh Cologne beer speciality which is brewed after proved family recipe and the German purity requirement of 1516 with water, malt, hop and hop extract.
The fine-sourish, pleasant, a little bit hop-stressed taste is characteristic for this traditional product and distinguishes spanker gaffel K¨elsch clearly from all other K¨lschmarken.
